The Week In NFTs: A Big Fortnight In NFT's, Masters of Horror NFT Launch + New Killer Feature.
Each week we share insights from the Web3 space + the latest from Moonwalk.
As we settle into the festive season, the Moonwalk team wishes you and your families a very happy holidays! What a momentous year 2021 was for NFT’s. We share below our weekly update to round out the year. We’re excited to spend time with you in 2022.
The Week In Review.
It’s been a mad sprint to the finish line this year for the NFT industry. This past fortnight saw the highly anticipated Adidas NFT drop ($24M in primary sales plus a further $30M+ in secondary sales) and the acquisition by Nike of NFT studio RTFKT (which our CEO Shiv talked about on Cheddar TV). This was only days after Murat Pak’s $91.8M sale of his “Mass Banner” work on Nifty Gateway to a group of 28,000 buyers. Many eyes were on the Bored Ape Yacht Club floor price last week as it “flippened’ (breached) the Cryptopunk floor price, nicely timed by Snoop Dog as he announced that he had aped into BAYC’s. It was also reported that Christie’s did $150M in NFT sales in 2021. What a way to end 2021, Year Of The NFT.
What We Did At Moonwalk.
Last week, we were excited to have launched (the first phase of) a Web3 ecosystem for a well known Hollywood IP, “Masters Of Horror”. The first phase spans a client-branded web3 wallet and 2 NFT collections on Ethereum and Polygon (for “Hellraiser”, the first brand to be launched from the Masters of Horror IP) - and sets the stage for upgradable NFT’s, NFT-powered content unlocks, and other IP launches in the Masters of Horror arsenal. We pushed a killer new NFT feature to our platform - eco-friendly gas-free whitelisting - and added to our multi-chain capabilities, commencing our work on Flow Blockchain with a Blocto wallet integration, and testing NFT utility with Flow assets like NBA Topshots. We continued to see creators launching NFT collections using Moonwalk. The team has been spread out on the East and West coasts talking with signed partners across entertainment and Web3.
Masters of Horror: Web3 Ecosystem.
AdAge covered the NFT collection launch for Moonwalk client, Hollywood horror franchise “Masters Of Horror”. The project, launched by IP owner Boss Protocol, is powered by Moonwalk. In the first phase, the project includes:
A Web3 Wallet for Boss (the IP owner) that powers NFT utility, rewards and community engagement. In the future, Boss will utilize the wallet not only for Masters of Horror brand “Hellraiser” but to launch other IP in the horror, gaming + entertainment space
A 10K generative NFT collection of the Hellraiser movie’s main character Pinhead (on Ethereum) that will serve as a membership pass that unlocks a host of future content. The NFT’s will also be mutable (upgradable/ downgradable) based on usage, powered by a new “programmable metadata” feature launching on Moonwalk next month
“Lament boxes”, a series of NFT “boxes” that will unlock future content, drops and whitelist access (on Polygon).

New Features on Moonwalk.
Our product team has been busy building and pushing new features.
Eco-friendly, gas-less whitelisting
Whitelisting has become a widely adopted marketing tool for NFT projects, as a way to reward early supporters with early access to drops. However, it’s been far from easy to implement, and in many cases extremely expensive. Every new whitelisted address added to the smart contract costs additional gas (for some projects, more than $100K).
Moonwalk has added the ability for a client to launch a zero-cost whitelist (with no-code). A client can add whitelisted ETH addresses manually or by csv into the dashboard, before the mint, or on-the-fly during the mint. As the user signs in to the NFT minting page, the site gates access by whitelisted wallet addresses injected into the browser by Metamask. In the next phase, we are adding fully on-chain low-cost whitelisting using merkle-tree hashing to programmatically add and aggregate the whitelisted addresses from the dashboard into a single line of smart-contract code.
Blocto Wallet Integration
We’re excited to be adding NFT utility for assets on Flow blockchain to our capability. This new feature is client-driven - as announced in November, Moonwalk is helping clients such as Andbox (owner of esports teams in the Call of Duty and Overwatch League), along with other clients like Blockparty (NFT marketplace) to provide utility for their Flow NFT’s. The first phase of this is adding a Blocto wallet integration (a Flow native wallet). Soon, Flow NFT’s like NBA Topshots can have utility on Moonwalk, from Discord unlocks, to product drops and metaverse gated-access.
Other Biz.
We continue to host creator-led NFT generative collections on the Moonwalk platform. Over the past couple of weeks, the platform has launched generative collections for creators such as musician G-Love and Special Sauce and graphic artist JamFactory. Last week Bitdawgs launched a charity-focused collection of 9,999 ERC-721 NFTs - the collection is donating 50% of primary sales and 100% of resale fees to NYC homelessness, of which $20K has already been dedicated to Bowery Mission.
Moonwalk is the leading no-code platform for major brands, gaming companies and creators to build Web3 + NFT ecosystems. Each week, we write The Moonwalk in which we share insights from the Web3 space + the latest from the Moonwalk team.
