NFT's Start 2022 With A Bang, SuperRare & Moonwalk Team Up To Deliver NFT Membership.
Each week we share insights from the Web3 space + the latest from Moonwalk.
What a start to the year for NFT’s! With Opensea’s $13.3BN valuation round, the LooksRare marketplace launch, Bored Ape record volumes, and big drops from Gary Vee and Jay Chou, 2022 starts with a bang. At Moonwalk, we teamed up with SuperRare to power NFT membership for music and visual artists - a wallet, tickets and drops.
The Week In Review.
The 2021 NFT energy showed no sign of abating through the first half of January.
The year opened on Jan 4th with Opensea announcing it had raised $300MN led by Paradigm and Coatue Management, at a $13.3BN valuation. The Series C round follows near-record $3.24BN in trading volume on the platform in December alone.
LooksRare well-timed their Jan 10th marketplace launch, capitalizing on the recent community outcry towards Opensea for not launching a token. The $LOOKS token valuation hit a high price of $4.69 and circulating valuation of $554MN - along with $394M in Day 1 sales, amidst claims of wash trading in Meebits.
New drops were dominated by well-known names, and NFT as a form of membership:
Gary Vee launched two projects in quick succession - Book Games and Flyfish Club (which quickly hit the top 10 on Opensea). Book Games is a collection of 125,000 burnable tokens airdropped to anyone who purchased his books in multiples of 12 during a promotional period, that gives holders access to VeeFriends 2 - a marketing strategy that helped drive the sale of over 1 million books as well as drummed up a whitelist for his next Veefriends drop. Flyfish Club is an NFT membership pass to Gary’s forthcoming NYC restaurant that sold $1,500 tokens for a total of $14M - an exciting new form of NFT utility.
Here are some other successful influencer-led drops:
Mike Dudas’s LinksDAO, an NFT membership rights pass for the DAO’s forthcoming Golf Club (9,000 NFT’s at a base price of 0.29 ETH), which drew the attention of many golf enthusiasts in the space, including Steph Curry
Crypto traders appear to be getting comfortable deploying ETH into popular NFT collections. What started with Cryptopunks in Aug/Sep 2021 found firm footing in January as NFT collections offered gains, while ERC-20 tokens were range bound.
Bored Ape Yacht Club dominated the headlines over the holiday season as daily trading volume surged - reaching $45M on January 3rd. The BAYC the floor price again eclipsed Cryptopunks, hitting a high of 83.5 ETH ($275,000) on January 14th.
The floor prices rose significantly for Doodles and World of Women. NFT investors Pranksy and Nate Alex reportedly spent 137 ETH to sweep the the Doodles floor. World of Women tripled after it was announced that Guy Oseary (Madonna’s, and now Bored Ape Yacht Club’s, manager) had been signed up to represent World of Women.
What Moonwalk Did.
SuperRare + Moonwalk teamed up to launch music NFT’s on SuperRare with programmable utility and community membership wallets, powered by Moonwalk.

Musicians and cryptoartists often ask us these questions:
“How do we drive interest in the initial NFT sale?”
“How do we reward and engage our NFT owners?”
“How does an NFT maintain interest in the secondary market?”
Here’s what we’re doing:
1/ Wallets. Each artist has their own community membership Web3 wallet, in which any NFT, group of NFT’s, or even an ERC-20 token, can gate more than 50 types of unlocks. After the wallet is launched, the artists can add more unlocks over time, and add additional NFT gates, as they build their community and launch more NFT’s:
Rodg Wallet - moon.link/rodg
Nate Hill Wallet - moon.link/nate-hill
2/ VIP Tickets. NFT-gated backstage access to 3 RODG shows - tickets are unlocked and accessible via the wallet, and scannable using Moonwalk’s iOS scanner.
3/ Drops. 4 music assets each downloadable from the wallet gated by NFT:
An extended track
An exclusive version of Hellion Aura
A royalty free sample pack taken
Alternate version of the art, minted to SuperRare
